The training course has two separate modules: the on-line course and an instructor-led class, which could be customized for each customer.

EBT Competence Assessment for Instructor Concordance Training (ICT)

Evidence-based Training (EBT) is a framework for the delivery of airline recurrent or continuing qualification training. This training course is a joint development between Astrom Training Solutions and Norman Macleod .
The course delivers an innovative and ground-breaking solution that will help airlines and training centers develop their simulator training instructors to be capable of EBT competence-based grading

The course falls under the broader Competence-based Training (CBT) umbrella. It has been adopted by ICAO and widely implemented around the world.

EBT comprises a number of building blocks, including a competence model, a marker framework and a grade scale. But an airline's training programme will stand or fall on the quality of the assessments undertaking by its instructors and examiners. This course provides a solution that will meet an airlines instructor training requirements.

The course can be delivered on-site, in a fully on-line mode, or as a blended learning solution.

The course covers the following core topics:

  • An Introduction to Assessment
  • Understanding Competence Models and Marker Frameworks
  • Understanding Grade Scales
  • Gathering Evidence
  • Assigning a Grade
  • Understanding Bias in Assessment
  • Implementing an Instructor Concordance Assurance Programme
The course is highly practical and delegates will conduct a number of assessments as part of their development. Exercises will also be checked for inter-rater reliability.

Astrom CRM training is available for pilot initial and recurrent training. We also provide joint training for pilots and cabin crew and combine training for mixed groups of airline personnel.
